Pencil annotations, edges worn, p. 47 separated, map of England and Wales pasted down inside back cover.

As early as 1867 the Virginia General Assembly adopted a resolution inviting “all classes of men, from all countries, to Virginia, to settle the surplus lands and engage in all the great industrial pursuits”. Later the Board of Immigration was created. This book was submitted to and endorsed by the Board of Immigration.

A beautiful small (8vo) volume bound in original calf with some chipping and cracking at the spine. Title page features the world in 2 spheres with California as an island.
